WELCOME to the Bashful Bunny Blog Hop! This is a first for our group of ladies, so might I add 'Beginner' to the title as well :) You have arrived at the opening post of our blog hop, but if you started somewhere in the middle, then you have arrived here from Jana - Isn't she SO creative?
Our group started out back in February on the Cricut message boards doing a 'Secret Leprechaun' swap. We had so much fun, we didn't want it to end once St. Patrick's Day was over. We quickly threw names into a hat again, and produced the Bashful Bunny swap. We don't only shop for each other, but we also aim to inspire and support each other as friends. This is really a talented group of Ladies, and we have all become so close! We designed this Blog Hop to showcase our talents and hopefully inspire each person who hops through with us this weekend.
We were asked to create something with an Easter / Spring theme, and I chose Easter! Easter is a HUGE EVENT in my family! I am 37 years old, and I still go to my parents house for dinner every Easter Sunday, and they STILL hide an Easter basket for me! I think it's adorable :) My Mom always outdoes herself with her cooking - so yummy! She also goes to great lengths to make sure that the table is properly set and decorated beautifully (we usually have around 14 people).
I created place cards for my Mom's Easter dinner this year. My Mom will be thrilled that I'm helping her add a personal touch to her table, and people won't have to shuffle around wondering where to sit for the meal. To make each card base, I used Lacy Labels and welded the shadows together in my Gypsy. I then used the layer of each individual label to decorate the fronts of the cards. Here is a sampling of the place cards I created:
This is the place card for my daughter. The chick cut is from Simply Charmed. I used Bazzill Bling & My Minds Eye cardstock, and embellished with Distress Inks, Stickles and Rhinestones. I don't have nice handwriting, so I just used my label maker for the names. I need to find a better way to get names on these in the future!
This place card is for my husband. I learned that Easter is a very hard holiday to make 'manly'! For his card I used the chocolate bunny cut from Gypsy Wanderings, Bazzill Bling cardstock, stickles, Distress Ink, Black Pearls and 1 lonely googlie-eye :)
This card is mine! It's my least favorite - I feel like the yellow frame got lost on the background, so I need to re-think the colors next time. The bunny cut is from Create-a-Critter and again I embellished with Distress Ink, stickles, pearls and rhinestones.
I imagine the dinner settings looking something like this:
I hope this helps avoid seating confusion next weekend, and I hope everyone will take their card home with them as a small token from the day. I love personal touches for the Holidays!
CANDY ALERT - - CANDY ALERT - - CANDY ALERT -- CANDY ALERT
Now on to the fun stuff! I chose to give away one of my FAVORITE embellishments that you just can't have enough of - STICKLES!!! Ranger came out with 9 new colors recently, and I love them so much, I want you to have them too!
The new colors are: Lagoon, Tropical Tangerine, Glam Pink, Paprika, Mystic Green, True Blue, Firefly, Thistle & Midnight Blue
Here's all you need to do: 1.) Become a follower of THIS blog & 2.) Leave me a comment on THIS post (and any others if you are so inclined). Tell me - What is your favorite embellishment? Or, what did you create to make Easter extra-special this year? I will draw a random winner after the close of the hop Sunday night, and will contact you for your shipping information. Easy, right?
Ok, now HOP TO IT! We have a great lineup for you this weekend!

My favorite embellishment is also Stickles!! I just love it!! It comes in so many cool colors too! This will be the first year that we don't have our grandchildren over for Easter dinner and the egg hunt so I made some special candy holders to send to them so they will still have something special from Nana for Easter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some Stickles!!

These are so cute! I now want to make some! Who doesn't love stickles? I know I love them!
ReplyDeleteRibbon has to be my favorite embellishment ATM... I am making different treat bags and we are going all out for Easter this year.. Our first Easter in 7 years in the States..
Julie, your placecards are so cute! I like the way you did each one different. I have been making placecards for my mom for Thanksgiving dinner since I was little and she would just get me stickers to put on them. Of course now she thinks I spend way too much time on them cause the cricut comes out as do so many other things! Thanks for sharing your Easter ones!
ReplyDeleteAs far as my fav embellishment, I would have to say right now it is buttons and ribbons, although that could change as soon as tomorrow morning!! Have a great day and thanks for offering the chance to win the stickles!
Love your placecards Julie, so cute! Right now my favorite embellishment is stickles and the Glaze pens. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteyou're projects are so cute.. Julie... I was lucky to have you on the first swap, and I am anxious to see who got you for this one. Thank you for your great ideas on this swap. You and Jana did a WONDERFUL job, I hope to see something for May.

Those placecards are so cute!! My favorite embellishment depends on the project I'm working on, but I'm starting to discover why everyone likes stickles so much!
ReplyDeletethat is the cutest idea. I am in a altered vinatge box swap and bought 2 yesterday - one for practice and one for the swap. I was thinking if the practice one turns out, it will be an Easter present for my mother. I use bling, glitter pens and stickles a lot as embellishments. It all depends on what I am doing as to what I use.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie - Your placecards are so cute and great idea! My favorite embellies....stickles is right up there so sure and distress inks! Thanks for a chance to win some stickles!
ReplyDeleteWow Julie those are awesome. I don't get to decorate because (1) I have no family living here and (2)I don't have any children living at home. I love all of your projects.
ReplyDeleteJulie...you are an amazing lady! You can do it all....organize blog hops, host a swap, balance work and family....AND scraft! These place cards are adorable...each and every one. The neat thing is that they can be saved as scrapbook page embellies, too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I really have a favorite embellishment at the moment...but I have been incorporating stickles, inking and embossing into my projects a bit more lately.
Thanks so much for putting this all together! :)

ReplyDeletefav. embellishment would have to be gems or bling. I love the clear ones and them color them with the alcholol inks.
Julie this are really great.. I love the chick.. I guess i am getting to be a big fan of stickles as i use it more. When i first started this i just keep thinking of it as glitter glue but now i appreciate it more... have a great day and off to hop around some more..

Love the placecards! You are really very talented, and I was VERY lucky to have you as my secret bunny as you spoiled me rotten!! Love your blog set-up too. My mom still gets all of us Easter candy too - waaay too much! But, now that there is a grandson in the picture, I'm sure the focus will change :) I really love my stickles too. Probably a little too much. I use them on just about everything!!
ReplyDeleteGreat place cards Julie! I love how you made your hubby's masculine. Stickles is also my favorite embellishment- I don't think a project is done unless there is a atleast little bit of stickles somewhere on it!!
