Birthday Week - Part 2

Ok - the card I made this week for my Daughter's 2nd birthday (which is today) will probably surprise you a little.  It looks like a card for a boy!
My daughter LOVES robots!  We just bought her the latest Veggie Tales movie for Easter, and there is a robot bunny in it, and she just wants to watch it over and over...  She calls them "Ba-Dots" - so I made her this card, and sure enough as soon as she opened the envelope a big smile crossed her face and she yelled "Ba-Dot!"  So, I didn't get to be all pink and cute with her card like I would have wanted, but this one couldn't have been more perfect.

This was my first time using my Robotz cartridge - I thought the layers looked intimidating in the booklet, but if you make the 'Ba-Dots' big enough, they're really quite easy.  Thanks for looking!

Preparing for Birthday Week

Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope everyone has a fun weekend planned, and that The Easter Bunny brings everyone their favorite goodies!  This week is big for me - My Hubby's birthday is Thursday and my Daughter turns 2 on Friday.  This being a Holiday weekend has forced me to start their goodies a little early, so that's exactly what I did last night.  Here's the card I made for my Husband's upcoming birthday.

He thinks Cricut cuts are so neat, so while I needed to keep this masculine, I also was 'allowed' to put some cute into it since it is for him.  Right now, I am totally loving the look of Baker's Twine on cards - My twine order hasn't arrived yet, so I found some Sugar 'N Spice crocheting yarn at Michael's that looks like the twine, and used that for the bow and background on this card.  The inside of the card reads Hap-Bee Birthday, the saying that came with this cut from Birthday Bash.

Thanks for looking - Have a Blessed Easter Weekend Everyone!

Welcome to the Bashful Bunny Blog Hop 4/16 - 4/17

WELCOME to the Bashful Bunny Blog Hop!  This is a first for our group of ladies, so might I add 'Beginner' to the title as well :)  You have arrived at the opening post of our blog hop, but if you started somewhere in the middle, then you have arrived here from Jana - Isn't she SO creative?

Our group started out back in February on the Cricut message boards doing a 'Secret Leprechaun' swap.  We had so much fun, we didn't want it to end once St. Patrick's Day was over.  We quickly threw names into a hat again, and produced the Bashful Bunny swap.  We don't only shop for each other, but we also aim to inspire and support each other as friends.  This is really a talented group of Ladies, and we have all become so close!  We designed this Blog Hop to showcase our talents and hopefully inspire each person who hops through with us this weekend.

We were asked to create something with an Easter / Spring theme, and I chose Easter!  Easter is a HUGE EVENT in my family!  I am 37 years old, and I still go to my parents house for dinner every Easter Sunday, and they STILL hide an Easter basket for me!  I think it's adorable :) My Mom always outdoes herself with her cooking - so yummy!  She also goes to great lengths to make sure that the table is properly set and decorated beautifully (we usually have around 14 people).

I created place cards for my Mom's Easter dinner this year.  My Mom will be thrilled that I'm helping her add a personal touch to her table, and people won't have to shuffle around wondering where to sit for the meal.  To make each card base, I used Lacy Labels and welded the shadows together in my Gypsy.  I then used the layer of each individual label to decorate the fronts of the cards. Here is a sampling of the place cards I created:

This is the place card for my daughter.  The chick cut is from Simply Charmed.  I used Bazzill Bling & My Minds Eye cardstock, and embellished with Distress Inks, Stickles and Rhinestones.  I don't have nice handwriting, so I just used my label maker for the names.  I need to find a better way to get names on these in the future!

This place card is for my husband.  I learned that Easter is a very hard holiday to make 'manly'!  For his card I used the chocolate bunny cut from Gypsy Wanderings, Bazzill Bling cardstock, stickles, Distress Ink, Black Pearls and 1 lonely googlie-eye :)

This card is mine!  It's my least favorite - I feel like the yellow frame got lost on the background, so I need to re-think the colors next time.  The bunny cut is from Create-a-Critter and again I embellished with Distress Ink, stickles, pearls and rhinestones.

I imagine the dinner settings looking something like this:

I hope this helps avoid seating confusion next weekend, and I hope everyone will take their card home with them as a small token from the day.  I love personal touches for the Holidays!
